The 12th National Capital Region Water Resources Symposium will be held April 12, 2024 at the University of the District of Columbia. This one-day symposium brings together experts from governmental agencies, academia, the private sector, and nonprofits to discuss challenges and opportunities for sustainable management of water resources and infrastructure in the region, as well as nationally and internationally. The Symposium Program includes Plenary Session (9:00 a.m.- Noon), Concurrent Sessions for oral presentations (1:15 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.) and Poster Presentations (9:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.).

We have a host of presentations and posters in all areas of water resources management and water infrastructure including but not limited to:

  • Emerging smart technologies and data management systems
  • Climate change and water resources (including water & energy nexus)
  • Watershed science, groundwater studies, water ecosystems, stormwater management
  • Emerging contaminants in water
  • Innovations in water treatment technologies
  • Uses of alternative water sources in urban settings
  • Information technology and cybersecurity
  • Socio-economics and water policy
  • Social justice and equity in water management

 

Student Poster Competition: Each year, the AWRA-NCRS offers 2 awards ($100 and $50) and certificates to winners of the poster competition. To qualify, a student should be the poster first author and the poster presenter.
